Yeah i go in spurts of watching tons of movies and then none at all. I have seen a lot of things that are out on DVD and all, but I am just so sick of everything about theaters i can't make myself go in one even for movies I want to see.
It costs so much that for 2 people you should just buy the DVD
People are always loud and talking
If you see anything remotely new the theaters are packed
Cell phones (even some of my lame friends txt message during movies, god i hate couples that cant leave each other alone for 2.5 hours)
Loud kids
If you want good seats you need to show up early
They run freaking TV commercials before the movie why would i ever pay for a tv commercial
The movie starts so late after the commercials and all the previews that seeing anything becomes a 2.5+ hour experience
Movie times never seems to work unless you plan way ahead
Food costs, i would like a lemonade that doesnt cost $2.95
So i just haven't been to the theater for such a long time. I just wait for things i want to see to come out on DVD and many times can buy it when it first comes out for 13 bucks from target or amazon.com. So even if the movie isn't that great it is still cheaper to buy it and check it out than see it in the theater with a friend. I also just buy used DVDs 2 for 10 bucks... can't be that.

I agree with above, I used to love the theaters going experience, but now it is a fiasco everytime. My wife and I have to first find a seat with out crap smeared all over it. Then we get to endure arse loads of commercials, I really hate this, it is the same reason I have a DVR. Usually there are some people being really annoying, yelling, being deliberately obnoxious. I am not even an audio/video phile and it makes me angry when the sound and video are jacked. I have to leave my movie for a few minutes to track down someone to fix it. Also the employees are usually some of the most boring, lifeless, couldn't care less people I have ever seen, worse than fast food. In addition, the movie industry has tried for years to bring more people in to their movies by changing the trailers to match different genres, this is another reason that I don't go to many movies anymore. You just don't know what you are going to get and more often than not, it is still crap. I went to see a movie, sat through about 10 minutes of it and left because it was a turd, I told the manager that I was going to go see a different movie because that one sucked. He would not even let me top off my $5 soda. I now sneak in all my own snacks and soda. The movie industry has clearly lost all touch with reality. It needs a serious check. Theaters better get with it or they will find themselves extinct.
