"Just read on Zeropaid that Spain has recently voted in compulsory copyright licensing, levying a tax on all blank media. This includes cd-r, dvd-r, flash media, printers, scanners, cell phones, everything. The tax will be collected by the government and 'given to the copyright holder.'" -Spain Copyright
So this doesn't make any sense there are plenty or reasons to use blank media for your own backups, photos, word documents and such, that aren't copyright related. So if I am paying copyright owners every time I buy blank media in Spain, shouldn't I expect I can burn, trade, and download any of their copyrighted material for free seeing as I have paid for it based on media?
I am pretty sure that is how I would look at it, but basically they say it is illegal to do that, but we say that is all your doing with blank media so we will charge everyone money as if they are doing it, but make the act of copying it to media illegal, so now your paying for something that is actually illegal to do. Why is it that our government are owned by big business. This does NOTHING but hurt consumers, and pay large companies that are refusing to innovate.
