Flobots Happy Together

I didn't notice for a long time, You can now buy the Flobots Happy Together cover song off their website. It was originally supposed to be included on the new album, but It had some issues and wasn't correctly mixed in time to make it. I had been looking forward to that song for awhile, so if you wanted it as well go grab it from the Flobots.

The big Seekler alpha release

We have been working for a long time and we are finally getting to push some of that work out to the public. It is really exciting to get our feedback from our first round of friends and family. We are hearing mostly good things. We definately had some user interface issues, but most of them we could clean up pretty quickly. We are now fixing some general data integrity issues, doing a security audit, and catching our testbed back up which fell behind in the last week or two rushing to get fixes out in front of our users.

head over here to, read more about the Seekler release and see screen shots.

We will be inviting more people on to use the site soon, but we have a couple fixes we want to finish up before getting more feedback, or we will just hear more about the same issues. If you want to make sure we will invite you soon, you can sign up at Seekler.

Health and Well Being

Lately my general feeling of health has been all ups and downs... for instance I kind of feel like I need to throw up right now... That seems bad, but two days ago I was so giddy and excited that I could barely fall asleep because I felt on top of the world.

Oh well I guess that is part of life.

There are some great string munipulation shortcuts in rails. I thought this was a good write up and little collection of some of the most useful functions.

In Rainbows by Radiohead

I just paid 4.50 in Lyra or whatever the british feel like calling their money (pounds, but I won't call it that) for Radiohead's new album. The album is In Rainbows. I am not really a Radiohead fan, I haven't even heard the whole album yet, why would I pay money for an album that you can get for free? Well a mainstream band is finally skipping the RIAA and releasing music in an unencrypted format that I can download and bring anywhere. So I have to support that and show all the bands still think like Metalica, that their time has come, I just won't buy and support music screwed up with DRM, and I won't pay 12 bucks an album.

Others are following and small bands are making it with out labels... Rock On, now hopefully this album has some good tunes. Back to work while listening to In Rainbows

On Bonfires and Barbecues

A weekend with so many thoughts packed into my head it just makes you want to collapse and not deal with anything. Slowly then accepting and dealing with the duties of each day. I got to see many friends and have many great conversations this weekend. A friend made our house dinner for letting her and her boyfriend stay at our house for awhile when first moving into town. Many loud shouts of joy, happiness, confusion, craziness, anger, and everything else went up around our little bonfire this weekend. The craziest thing that has been really sticking lately is that we can never really take back things that we say, that the sound waves are always just moving further out into space and slowly becoming infinitely smaller, but still propagating further. Anyways it was wonderful to get to see our friends and celebrate our end of summer, right before the first snow fall of the season.

Seekler goes public

So we are in a stealthy way launching Seekler. You can read about the 3 staged launch on our Pretheory blog. So basically this is step one where we are opening the doors to the public to browse the content and see what the site is about, but we aren't letting many people get accounts. Hopefully this will give us some good feedback on the idea, scalability, security, and let us start building links and search traffic to Seekler.

We the idea of getting some links out there in mind, here our some of my favorite community lists in the community:

I also have some personal lists I have been working on that I like:

I guess you can consider those my top lists of lists... haha I am so lame.

Everyone feel free to browse the site and give me any thoughts or feedback. We are pretty excited to get this first version out there. If you want an invite shoot me an email or leave a comment or something, we are limiting the site for now, but obviously if you know me I can slide you an invite.

Honduras in the form of a blog post

Honduras the whole idea about writing all my thoughts on my trip is overwhelming. In fact I have promised this post for months and months. I have collected many of my thoughts, written many on paper, emailed some, and just pondered on others. At no point did a coherent or publicly readable post come together. So I sit down now to share my thoughts on Honduras.

La-Esperanza-Overview.jpg
a view across La Esperanza

Imagine arriving in what is considered a third world country after not seeing your girlfriend for over four months. The start of your vacation begins by trying to find a bathroom while going to customs and trying to ask a security office for a bathroom who clearly doesn’t understand English. One of my 20 sentences/words of Spanish comes to the rescue, “Bano?” Then not knowing what to expect walking through some glass doors bags in hand to see your loving girlfriend looking at you and smiling. We walk forward embrace and kiss, a great welcoming to the country that will be your home for the next ten days.

Warning this is one of the longest blog posts I have ever made...
