Tonight I Caucus for Obama

Tonight I will be caucusing for Obama. I hope those of you that can, go participate as well. I didn't think I would be able to because I was registered as an unaffiliated, but apparently that isn't a problem in Colorado, I just sign some statement of intent.

Get out there and spead the word, even if your not for Obama participate, vote.

Dave:

Can you please point me to where you got your information? I'm not registered as a Democrat either and I've been very sad that I can't support Obama in the caucus.

The Boulder Daily Camera has reported more than once that you had to be registered as a Democrat in early December (http://www.dailycamera.com/news/2008/feb/05/where-to-go-on-caucus-night-boulder-county-can/). And a friend sitting here now said the local Party HQ told him the same thing.

Dan:

I called the Denver County clerks office to figure out what my registration information was. (I didn't know if I was unaffiliated or Democrat) anyways they told me that you can go and long as your their and show that your voting for the democrats to the precinct captain you can vote even if unaffiliated.

Dave:

Thanks Dan. I called the Boulder County clerk and was told that the party sets the rules so I should check with them, BUT I wouldn't be able to participate anyway. The party didn't answer the phone.

I'm really hoping Obama wins. If he gets the nomination I might even change my registration back to Democrat- something I never would have imagined even 6 months ago.

Dan:

Cool, yeah the other weird thing is that I am still registered at my old address so I have to go to that precinct to vote. Since that was my old apartment which is across the street I happen to go to the same Caucus, which helps out.

I could still have a problem if the precinct captain decided they didn't trust me or were to busy or whatever, but it sounds likely I will get to participate.
